That's not good.

Oh there's another thread on it here http://www.pets.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=38556

Only snack I get is the hard cornstarch thingy with meat-taste glaze from Loblaws - looks like plastic "boats" in blue, green or orange with a brownish colored layer of flavor. The dogs love it, but I wonder how long it'll be before they recall those too. For now, I'm not buying anymore, just to be on the safe side.

Alrighty...

Actually, mafiaprincess, I posted this 2 hours earlier than your thread, but must admit yours is beter as you used the product in the subject line, and I just mentioned another recall. Sorry.

Final straw for me...
Everyday more and more pet food items are being recalled. Until ALL of this is straightened out. Im not buying ANY more manufacured dog foods or treats. I know the higher quality foods are un affected, but im really freaked out by this.
I dont trust any of them right now.

Some of the higher quality ones are. Nutro, etc. Same with cat foods (Hill's prescription diets etc)

Thats what is freaking everyone out - its very hard to figure which companies are safe now. I spent 20 or 30 hours researching and trying to find a company that's not connected with Menu in any way. I finally settled on Felidae for our cats because their plants are certified for human grade and they control the entire process without outsourcing, but I'm still not 100% confident. I'd do raw diet in a flash if I thought I knew enough to get the balance right - or if I didn't live in an apartment I'd seriously consider training them to catch and eat live mice and buying their food alive.

Yeah, i meant like Innova, Solid Gold, Orijen and so on... but good point.
None the less, Im avoiding it all for a while.

Never found nutro or SD to be much 'higher quality' than most other stuff. I'd still lump it with all the recall food for quality really when it comes down to it.

I have 6 pounds of wellness to use, and then I think I don't want to see wellness again.. Cider's poop is horrible off it.

Took this to make me realize that .... that's one good thing about this whole business - alot of people are going to get educated fast.

mafiaprincess April 1st, 2007 01:10 PM

Very very true. People who thought their iams was the bestest ever, are starting to rethink it. While sad, I'm glad people are trying to make an effort to learn.
