Help! Our kitten has a habit we would like to break
 

Hello,

My kitten is an 8 month old female named Scarlett and she is a feral cat.

My boyfriend and I have a desk our bed with a lamp on it, some makeup and some other little items. Since we got her 4 months ago, she jumps up on the desk every morning at 5:00am and start playing around with my makeup and other items to make noise. My boyfriend gets up when she does this and assumes that she is hungry or thirsty, so he refills her water and food. I am assuming that by doing this he has been rewarding her behavior.

Recently, we tried putting all of my makeup and any loose items in a box and we refill her water and food before going to bed. She now started scratching and biting the lamp to get our attention. For the past couple of night we have tried using a spray bottle filled with water to deter her from scratching the lamp, however this is not working. She probably sees this as a game, because she will run away and come back to do it again repeatedly. Not to mention that we feel awful spraying her! Aside from moving the lamp, does anyone have any other ideas? If moving everything off the desk is our only option, then we will consider this, but any other suggestions would be so helpful!

We also live in a 2 1/2 apartment and so locking her out of the room is not the greatest option since space is already so limited, she cried when we kick her out of the room, and her food and water have always been in the bedroom.

She has a scratch post in the other room. Would you maybe put it up on the desk?
