heartworm prevention
Was just browsing the internet today and found a site that gives info on heartworm prevention using herbs instead of the traditional pill we give our dogs....Im not selling anything cause you can get these herbs at any herbal store in your area.

I must say it was an interesting site. But I must also say that all my dogs in the past and now have been using the heartworm prevention that we get from the vet.And nothing has ever happened to them at all. They get their blood checked. If they are clear then they take it once a month from May to October. They have had absolutely no side effects at all.Guess I'm just lucky. And my two are 7 now.And my previous ones have lived to be 13-14.:D

Having gone through long, painful and very expensive heartworm treatment and cure with my present dog, I religiously use the meds from my vet to prevent any further problems.
The consequences are just too dire for me to use any other kind of preventative. |
this type of herb treatment would be great for someone who falls into a finacial slump sometime in their life and still able to give their dog an effective treatment until they are able to afford a vet.
I have never had any trouble with my dog using the treatments my vet gives but it is still something to consider for that rainy day |
Ditto what Lucky said - and the ivermectin (HeartGard) is one of the safest drugs that can be administered to a dog. Certainly better than the dog getting HW; I've also had a rescue dog go through the treatment, no fun. And it's not expensive; even for my big dogs it's less than $10.00 per month through my vet. I'm sure I could get it cheaper online.
Besides, I don't think it's wise to take information seriously if it's on a website selling herbal drugs, or selling anything for that matter. You're certainly not getting impartial info! |
I agree with Lucky and Carina. I had rainy days and I wouldn't think of giving them herbs instead of the hw pills I get from the vet.
I wouldn't think of taking that chance, I rather go through the vet. |
