Glucosamine/Chondroitin for puppy?

Just wondering what your thoughts are on giving glucosamine/chondroitin supplements to a 15 week old lab/pyrenees pup? He is fed Acana Large Breed Puppy. We adopted him from a shelter, so, any medical history of parents, etc is unknown.
