Cocker Spaniel With A few Problems :(

Hey guy's,

Just joined in the site so new to all this forum talk etc, I'm from Scotland just outside Edinburgh,
What the problem is,

I have a 12 year old cocker spaniel, Zak's his name.
He has been vomiting up frothy at times and also his poo is smelly and like brown liquid/jelly with blood at times through it, he has also been drinking alot of water and has lost mega amounts of weight the past two weeks, Mostly he is now skin and bones, What do you think may be wrong with him??

He is going to vet's next week but I'm real worried as now he just always seems to sleep and has no energy.... :( Please help someone??

Thanks

will

I'm afraid none of us are vets on this site, there is Dr.Lee and maybe he'll see this post, can you not take him into an emergency clinic?

There is only an emergyncy clinic once a week near me and we missed it this week, Any help would be thankfull has anyone had these symptoms in there dog etc??

bigwul,I cannot say what is wrong with your Cocker(a breed I love),but I walk a Cocker every day for my neighbor, she is about the same age as yours.
If she had those symptoms, she would have been at the vet yesterday.
Please try to get your dog in as soon as possible,I do not think next week is good enough,if you explain the situation to your vet I am sure he'll see Zak right away.
Please keep us updated:dog:

Vomiting and diarrhea with huge amounts of weight loss sounds very serious. I would be driving to another town to see a vet ASAP.

I agree, your dog could very well be dying or it could be something simple. Head for the vet now.

This sounds terrible and right away all I could think was parvo, but am not a vet.
This is very serious and I agree with the others its time to find a vet and not wait. It does not take a dog long to dehydrate leading to death when they have the symptoms you have described.

I'm sure I speak for all of us in saying that we would very much like an update on your dog's condition and that we are all sending you our thoughts and good vibes.

As others may come across this thread in the future, I'd like to note that time is critical when a dog is vomiting and/or has diarrhea repeatedly and copiously ~ waiting weeks for medical attention not only prolongs your animal's distress, it may cause damage which cannot be undone. And, it goes without saying that any show of blood in stool or vomit requires an IMMEDIATE vet visit.

I hope you've found a vet to see your dog by now, bigwul1983. As others have pointed out, the combination of diarrhea and vomiting can lead to rapid dehydration, which can be life-threatening.

Good luck and please post back when you find out anything.
