Saving Annuals

Is there anything I can do with this beautiful standard hibiscus this winter?

you have to take the annual ones inside to winter over...if you don't have a lot of room you can "hack" it right back and it will come back again in the spring and you can put it out again!

Can I put it in the basement, cool and dark but not freezing. I have no room for this pot. Trim it down and return it outside in the early summer?

Yes you can put it in the cool/dark but give it a little water from time to time not a lot as it won't use much....and it can go back out in the spring when the risk of frost is gone...I usually put mine out and then pull back under the porch if it is very windy or calling for frost. they will do much better tho if they can be inside near a window.

They need to be above 50F but they will need some light especially once the new leaves start. You also need to watch for insects especially white fly as spring approaches.
