You can try putting out tuna or salmon. Leave something that has your smell on it outside. Also try leaving out her litter box. Something that has her smell on it. Check under decks, in sheds, talk to neighbours, place an ad along with picture in the newspaper. Heck, I would even go as far as seeing if I could get a whole page for my ad.
I know it is hard to think of 'what if'. But, you can also call and see what depart picks up deceased animals off the road. While, humane societies/spca and city shelters have scanners, other depart like instance, roads, construction, etc) don't have a scanner or even care that the animal is someones pet. Keep us posted. I agree with ACO22 and just to add, When I lost my cat , I was told by a "Pet detective" that cats never wonder too far from their area..they are territorial and chances are your cat is no father than a 2 block radius. Please don't give up...

Yeah, I remember a few years back when I worked for another spca..I was on-call that night and got a call regarding someone had a very friendly stray outside their door for 3 days and it was crying and would not leave their porch. It was about 11pm at night.
At first I was preeved. My first thought that it was theirs cat and just didn't want it anymore. Also, if he was not theirs, I was pissed off at the fact that they have this poor stray outside for 3 days, without any food/water/shelter, and they are just calling me now. It was also in the end of October and that year it was a VERY cold October. I told her I was on my way and asked if she could confine him in the gargage..so he would not run off when seeing me. She just about freaked and honestly said too me "well if I put him in the garage, I will hear him more and he is starting to piss me off with his meowing" Irriatated, I said well leave a blanket outside on the porch then, so he is aleast not lying on the cold cement. Surprisingly, When I pulled up, she had put out a blanket and the cat was lying on it. Anyhoo..it make a long story finally short. It afterall was not their cat. But the cat belong to a lady who lived 2 blocks away. The cat had gotten out of her bedroom window (screen fell out) and he had been looking for him for 2 weeks. It was a happy reunion. ACO22 |
