Stroke???

Hi,

About two weeks ago i took my dog into the vet because he had lost his vision (rather fast...almost seemed over night he lost it). He is a 12 year old Lab and his vision has been going gradually over the past 6 months.

the vet said it was cataracts and that he was 100% blind in the right eye, and approx 95% blind in the left.

Now i am noticing other symptoms (that were probably there before and i hadn't noticed)
- face droops on one side (right side)
- he limps a bit on the one side
- walks in circles
- has issues with stairs (figure it might be because of the new blindness thing)
- gets confused when called
etc.

From what i have read, there isn't really much of a treatment (besides diagnosing the type of stroke...which involves kat scan, MRI, spinal tap, blood-work, etc. I don't know if i want to put the poor guy through it.

I have read that they can recover in some cases.

Is there anything i could be doing? aspirin in his food? natural supplements?

Any info would be helpful
thanks,
tony

On the stroke symptoms, I dont know any exact measures you can take.

On the cataracts, you could ask your vet for a referral to an opthamologist, as some dogs instantly regain their sight after cataract surgery.
