Cute little Cory Cats - swimming oddly.

Hey - I have dismantled my 30g tank and dispersed its citizens between my 10g and my 65 g. I have two julii cory cats that were quite happy in the 20, ate like horses, ha ha. They are in the 65g now and cit almost looks like they can't swim to the bottom of the tank. They're all over the place, swimming nice and fast and getting to the top, but it kind of appears as though when they try to get down to the substrate, where they should be living, they swim really really hard and can't seem to get there. Any ideas? W4R, you know a lot about the cories, maybe you have seen this before?

Never mind, they figured it out.

so cory cats are really cool like that. i bet the water was a little cooler, the pH a little lower..... some of that is probably mating behavior. wanna see some more cool stuff, do a hefty WC (50% or so) with water a few degrees cooler and you might get babies if they are opposite sex.

keep an eye on their barbells. what sort of substrate do you have??

Substrate is all sand. The day I put them in one of them got a little nip in his dorsal, but he seems to be doing okay now. They are eating. I have another pair of cories (pandas) that used to be in the same tank as these ones (juliis), but when I shut down that tank I put the juliis in the bigger tank and the pandas in the 1o g because they're so tiny, I'm afraid they might get picked on.
Anyway, thanks! Babies would be cool. I had some mollies that started having babies when I first stated my hobby, but had no idea how to handle it so they just all died or got eaten. I will NEVER again have mollies. They ruined my first aquatic experience.

sand is the best substrate for bottom dwellers, in my humble opinion. :D you had a chance to do that cooler WC yet??? :D its almost alarming how they dance around flirting with each other!!

Yeah, I did that. They look so cute! I think I need more cories though, I only have 2 in that tank.
You know how cories tend to schoal? I guess they only do that with their own species - I tried to mix a couple different species and they just didn't hang out!

yep, they shoal with only their own species!! sometimes just having different kinds of cory cats will make them feel comfortable enough but they wont shoal together. they say to have groups of 6 minimum.
