Cat Found-DOA - Granville St & 51st Vancouver

LARGE maine Coon X kitty was found in Northbound Traffic on August 7th 2004 at approximately 10:45. Unknown how long kitty had been laying there, but guess approx 15 to 20 minutes. Upon checking on kitty it was discovered he/she was still alive although desperately injured. Cat was immediately rushed to Fraser Animal Hospital at 41st Avenue and Fraser in Vancouver, unfortunately kitty was DOA. No tattoos and no collar.

Likely on his was home on teh East side of Granville street between 51st Avenue and 53rd Avenue. Well loved and quite plump cat...teeth were quite clean so kitty was likely less than 4 years old OR had recently been vetted.

Main coon X with long fur and typical tabby markings, long fuzzy tail and a big cream colored belly. Large ears with tufts of fur on tips. Likely male due to size and territorial roaming?? Likely fixed due to larger belly than proportionate to rest of body. Cat weighed at least 18LBS and appeared in good health.

Shame on the other drivers who did not bother to take a moment out of their busy evenings to stop and at least move kitty out of the roadway. Shame on the driver who hit the cat and cruelly left it to die. Traffic was not so bad that it was impossible to stop and check teh cat out...so shame on all of you who drove past and around. The cat may have had a chance if someone had stopped sooner!!

If you have lost a cat fitting this discription the kitty was taken to Atlas Veterinary Clinic in Vancouver at 41st and Fraser: telephone # 604-301-0300.

Oh dear heaven thats so very sad. Shame on the owner for letting the cat roam and get hit to begin with!!

Thank you for showing some compassion for this little sweet cat.
