Jemma's going to the vet... again...

She went and gave herself a hematoma or maybe it's an absess, at the base of her right ear. Off to the vet tomorrow morning... Hopefully it won't be a major surgery or anything.:o

Prin April 25th, 2007 05:30 PM

poor jemma
good luck at the vet:fingerscr

Prin April 25th, 2007 05:48 PM

It does hurt her if you touch it... She either scratched her ear too hard (after getting into the medi-cal  ) or it happened when she met Leila and got into a scuffle... That's what I figure, but who knows. She still plays so rough with Boo..

Winston April 25th, 2007 05:55 PM

Hey Prin...My boy had that last summer! Except it was a bite! I saw an earwig come out of his ear and went to look at his ear and it was similar to Jemma's...except my vet said it was not the earwig..it was a bee or something else...she said it could also be some form of trauma...Luckily it all worked out and the swelling went away..but Winston's ear is very thick and it was really swollen to the point it looked like a ball..

Good Luck with Jemma!

Prin April 25th, 2007 05:56 PM

I'm kind of hoping it'll just go away, but it hasn't shrunk at all in the past couple days, so I booked the appt. We'll see... :o

mummummum April 25th, 2007 06:00 PM

Better knock it off with the scratching Jems or your Mom and Dad are going to you were an E collar FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE !!!!!

Winston April 25th, 2007 06:03 PM

Yup, really looks like a hematoma:sad: mr.floyd had one, and now has his gimpy ear because it dissolved itself before we could get it drained and bandaged. Adds character to him I suppose.
Hopefully Jemms will be alright, :fingerscr for her.

Prin April 25th, 2007 06:58 PM

Thanks. I'll let you all know what happens tomorrow. :o

jessi76 April 25th, 2007 07:02 PM

good luck Jemma! :fingerscr

cpietra16 April 25th, 2007 07:14 PM

Could she have just scratched due to the stress of having 2 new visitors. I know Winnie licks herself to no end when she is stressed...maybe Jemma just scratches herself:shrug:

More likely would be that she flared up from eating the newfs' food.

coppperbelle April 25th, 2007 07:20 PM

Jemma's going to the vet...again

Belle had a few of those and required surgery. My friends lab had allergies and had a number of them in her life. The last time the vet did not operate but drained it with a new procedure.

technodoll April 25th, 2007 07:20 PM

jemma's trying to inflate herself to newf size to blend in the crowd :D

(( hugs )) to the sweetie, hope the vet figures out what it is and she can get some relief... :grouphug:
