Pet Insurance (Dog)

Hi everyone,

I know that there are previous threads on this topic but the most recent one that I could find was from 2009.

Through another thread on this forum, the topic of "health insurance" has come up. I currently do not have pet insurance for either of my dogs but do set money aside each month in an "emergency fund" for the dogs.

My question to any one who has or has had pet insurance:

What are the companies that you reccomend? There seem to be a lot of companies offering pet insurance these days but with all insurance... I am always weary that they "won't pay out". Can any one share with me your good or bad experiences with pet insurance?

Most important, in your opinion, is pet insurance "worth it"?

Thanks in advance!

I almost got pet insurance for my Boston, as soon as my trial period ending and I didn't renew, my dog started to itch......it has been a long 3 yrs and a lot of money, I wish I had signed up for insurance. Now it's a pre-existing condition and would not be covered. As long as their young and healthy is the time to purchase. I don't know of any reputable companies but I'm sure someone will toss in their opinion.

Here's a website that compares the various pet insurance policies, with a section for customer reviews: http://www.petinsurancereview.com/ca_dog.asp
