Plain and Fancy... Could they really????

Could my fish really kill eachother. Plain (all orange) 'bites' Fancy (orange and white) and pushes him into the stones at the bottom of the tank. Feeding time is the worst. Plain doesn't let Fancy eat. I can't separate them, i dont have another tank. Fancy looks so sad when food comes, he only gets food when plain isn't looking.

im assuming youre talking about goldfish??? if so, water quality is likely to be more of an issue than aggression although a fancy goldie is at a physical disadvantage to the comet type. their fins are longer and harder to swim with as opposed to the comet types sleek body type. i feel the cumbersome goldies shoudl not be kept with the natural ones.

how large is the tank??? how many fish are in it?

I have goldfish

The tank is quite large, there is lots of room. My two goldfish a relativley small. They are the only fish in the tank, and they are definatly not the fancy goldfish tpye. The water could have something to do with it, but i clean the tank reguarly and make sure that before i put the fish in the water is room temperature (i leave it out overnight)

still a mystery:shrug:

I have a number of goldfish, plain and fancy. In the Spring, when the females are heavy with eggs, the others chase them around and around the pond, bumping into them to push out the eggs which they then promptly eat. The females also bump along the sides and bottom of the pond to accomplish the same thing. Ummmm! Caviar! :yuck:
