The World's Fastest Indian
About Burt Munro's dream of riding his motorcycle (an Indian) at the Bonneville Salt flats (they're very flat so you can go your fastest there...). It takes him forever to get there, and there are so many obstacles that it gets frustrating at times.:D
It's a little slow moving, but it's a sweet story. There are little hints of symbolism in there too (a lot of symbolism in the grass, for example). http://www.worldsfastestindian.com/ :thumbs up |
A wonderful movie for sure . . . .
My father actually took us down to the Bonnyville Salt Flats in 1968, around the same time, on the way to some new fangled thing called Disneyland. Maybe Bert was there. Rick C www.goldentales.ca |
Did you see the races?

I was nine years old!!! I remember Disneyland, Big Rock Candy Mountain, the Grand Canyon and playing a slot machine in a Vegas grocery store a whole lot more than Bonneville. We have some old movies of the trip and the Flats and I believe there is some racing on those old flicks . . . . my father was a motorcycle keener and a backyard engine mechanic extraordinare. . . . . things that never rubbed off on his two sons. Before he died, he transferred those old movies onto video and gave copies to the kids. I'll have to drag it out and look. Rick C www.goldentales.ca |
i watched that movie, you're right about the frustrating part. Every time something good happened i was expecting something bad to immediately follow. overall i really enjoyed it though.

I've always wanted to go check out the salt flats.
Wonder what I could get the Tribute up to? Anyway, thanks for reminding me! I'm going to add this to the list of movies I want to see on video! |
