Low Protien cat food
 

A brief update, my neighbours cat of 20 years had lost weight rather quickly, so in order to put some back on, we had some Innova in our cupboard, for a few weeks he seemed to gain some weight but the past few days he's been not wanting to eat and was vomiting, so off to the vet they went, turns out liver and kidney function has decreased making it hard for him to break the protein down, so he has some different food (yes you guessed, it's science diet) not sure which one but there must be something out there that will work better. Any Idea's???

most senior foods are low protein. I know the Felidae senior is.

How low? Did your vet say? The lowest protein foods are usually the ones with the most veggies.:shrug:

3rd hand information, sorry. She's comming over tomorrow so i'll ask (interogte) her then, to the vets credit they did say "this will get you through until you find a better food" and sold her 2 cans. i'm sure they know that after a crash conversion by me (and in turn, yours truly) that she will be seeking out a better grade of food, it's jsut that was all the vats had to offer, luckily it's next to our local global (who all feed raw, except the mastiff who is a real picky eater and refuses raw:eek: ) but they will be sure to have something of the senior diets in stock. here is a link to a really good food list, lists food low in phosphorus.. apparently important to animals with kidney or renal failure.. also lists fat content, protein etc, good to know if any animals have pancrea or liver issues
