She came to the house this morning to check out Spencer who's been having a spot of diarrhea, poor boy. She was there and hour and a half, chatting about the kitties and getting a good history. She discovered Spencer had a hair impaction and the diarrhea was his body trying to get rid of it. Luckily my cat is on the lean side so she could easily feel that he was backed up and gave him an enema in the bathroom. Sure enough about 10 minutes later a nice full litter tray!

Hopefully he should get better now. Although he'll have a pretty miserable day, he keeps frothing at the mouth from trying to clean himself and licking the enema stuff, plus my other kitty is growling and hissing at him. That's her general reaction when she spots a vet. The new vet classified her as a 2 star cat (approach with caution/likely to be dangerous); we could here her under the bed growling away like a devil.

We left Rio with a pet sitter at Pharmacy Ave./ St. Clair on Sunday May 6th 2012 while we went away on holiday. She ran away from the sitter almost immediately and was last seen running north on Pharmacy Ave. at 1 a.m. in the early hours of Monday May 7th. We returned on Sunday May 13th to be told our dog had been missing all week. Her collar was found on Tuesday May 8th at the entrance to Warden Woods park at Warden/ St. Clair, and returned to us BUT OUR DOG IS STILL MISSING. We are devastated. Her description is : Medium sized (45 lbs.) Shepherd/Sheltie cross. She is often mistaken for a small Husky. She is 9 yrs. old. She has a white chest, paws, and eyebrows/lower area of face. She is very shy and afraid of other dogs and small children. She is very attached to us and we are fearful she may be trying to make her way home to Peterborough where we live....150 km. from where she went missing. She could be anywhere. We also think someone may be keeping her against her will in the area (we have been told someone was walking a dog matching her description, and that person was told she did not belong to the walker). Please, please help us find Rio. Our friend and fellow searcher is located in the area and can be reached at 416-752-1613 (Ruth). My home number is 705-755-1092 (Deb) and another friend can be reached by cell at (416) 358-2807 (Carol). Thanks to all for reading. I am posting wherever I can including the Toronto Humane Society website, Toronto Animal Services in all four locations, Kijiji lost pets, and I have posters in Taylor Creek Park, Warden Woods Park and anywhere we feel she may be sighted in the area including the library and No Frills.

My old cat, Princess resides with an old friend of mine.
I could no longer keep her due to the landlords changes their pet rules.
She just recently moved in with my friend and she is pregnant.
I assumed she became so in late February or March when I adopted my (apparently not neutered) Turkish Angora.
The day she moved out, she was beginng to bleed slightly.
That was Monday.
I was sure she was going into labour and begged my friend to pick her up ASAP so she's would be able to give birth in her care.
Princess has settled in nicely with her new family, very friendly, adores her 2 very young children and is fully feeling comfortable in her new home.
Princess is 2.
But the bleeding has yet to stop, in fact it's gotten to point that she's dripping.
Me & my boyfriend could never feel the kittens, but we could feel the lumps and hear them when our ear was up to her stomach.
Her new mummy cannot see them move and it's beginning to concern the both of us.
I have been keeping tract of her pregnancy and she is hitting her due date with rapid speed that I've been saying for the past week or two that this should be the week.
Now things are starting to happen, but still no kittens.
She still eating big, but her stool is very loose.
It's contains no blood that I know of myself and she seems in no pain or any discomfort.
We've both scoured googled for some help, both coming up seemingly empty handed.
Some sites say this is nothing to worry about, others say its serious.
I personally don't know.
She is a very petite cat with a kitten's figure.
She's fully grown but about the size of a nine month old kitten.
The sire to the kittens, was not an overly large cat, but the size of any typical male of his breed.
We're somewhat concerned that maybe the kittens took his size and are too difficult for her to pass.
We prayed for a larger litter thinking the more there were, the less room they'd have to grow so passing them should be okay for her.
A smaller litter and we fear she may not make it due to the fact of the kittens being too large.
The nearest vet is an hour and a half away.
Neither me nor Princess's new mother has a form of transportation that can take her there.
We simply want to know if this bloody show IS indeed something serious or if it's just signs that soon the kittens will be on their way and their just being particularily stubborn.

Hi, I have a wonderful little friend named Yogurt. He is a mix between Chihuahua and Cairn Terrier. I rescued him from Fuzzy Paws and have had him almost one year. He is about 2 years old and very sweet. About a month ago, he suddenly appeared to not walk right, gained about 3 pounds, and not able to jump up steps like he use to do. I took him to the vet twice, and thought it was a bum front right leg. With x-rays taken, there was no apparent cause for this sudden onset of problems.
I have been watching him alot and it seems that his hind legs don't have the strength to allow him to jump up steps. He seems to be off balance at times and runs into furniture when he runs around the house.
I think it's a neurological problem but I don't have the dollars to run the MRI or CatScan that the vet talks about. I wonder if anyone has a clue as to what Yogurt and I are dealing with? Any suggestions would help.

Thanks.

Feral cat has been populating the neighborhood for nearly 2 years and she had 3 kittens under my porch who are 1 month old tomorrow (about 18 days old in photo). She used to bolt at first sight of me but now stays in the box when I leave the food. The cardboard box is now too small for their size + mother. Shouldn't I be putting them in a bigger box. She's very protective and has refused to eat the 3 or 4 times that I've examined her babies. Who knows how she'll react to me changing the box. I don't think I'd approach while she's there, I don't trust her not to attack.

How do I proceed to try and save this family? It crossed my mind to try and trap her and then to transfer the family to a room in my basement. This way I'd be fairly sure to save the kittens but I don't honestly know if this is actually a viable option. If she decides to move them, I'd likely lose sight of them which would result in three more unsterilized feral cats in an already overpopulated neighborhood.

I don't have much real life experience with a situation like this. I live in east end Montreal and the pound is a well known high kill place (Berger Blanc) and I don't know if there are, or how to contact, any TNR (catch neuter release) in my area or even if they could help. Advice of members will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Much as I hated losing my darling Perkins(old red male ACD), it's nice that now Pheobe feels safe enough to claim the whole house. She's dealt with a couple of mice, and that was funny, she must have been so proud of the first kill because she was calling the way females will when they are in season, very loudly, virtually shouting at us to come and have a look. :D She's a dear little cat, if I could find another old fashioned Persian like her I'd get another when she's gone.
