I'm watching it on TV right now. I'm trying to get through on the phone, but having difficulty. But I sent this e-mail--
First of all, I want to say Thank You Alex, for confronting Michael Bryant.
I think the biggest problem that people have with what is going on is the lack of information, or rather, the deluge of misinformation that is going on right now. These dogs are called ticking time bombs, that they are wired to attack. That is simply not true. As anyone who has studied the history will tell you, they were bred to be human friendly. As despicable as dog fighting is, they actually have rules. When one dog breaks one of those rules, a person who was usually unknown to the dog, had to step in between them and break them up. There is no denying the strength and unwillingness to give up in these dogs. If they even were slightly aggressive towards a human, they were destroyed on the spot. These dogs have been used as therapy dogs, police dogs, guide dogs. Helen Keller had a pitbull. But instead we have mass hysteria being perpetuated by both Michael Bryant and the media. I have researched some of the attacks, and several of them that were reported to be pitbulls by the mass media, were not actually pitbulls!
The other issue is the fact that statistics are being ignored. The one caller talked about his French Poodle. The American Tempermant Society has PROVEN that the poodle is a more human aggressive breed than pitbulls! If pitbulls are so dangerous, with the thousands of them out there, why are there not MORE attacks? And why has this only been an issue for the past fifteen years or so? These are things that are not being introduced to the public. Instead, we’re hearing from people who are talking about the “pitbull” that was aggressive towards them. I have to wonder, how many were like the woman who yelled at us when her small dog came after our mix breed. Yet her dog was off leash, and was aggressive towards us, while our dog was on a leash, and did nothing until she felt threatened by this other persons dog? There are hundreds of stories like ours, and sadly, I believe it is the other side that Mr. Bryant is listening to.
Lastly, why do people get these dogs? We got ours because we picked her up as a puppy from the humane society. But many people will tell you that they are so loving, and all they want to do is please their master. I never in my wildest dreams thought I would have a dog that is part pitbull. If they are so vicious, why does my dog match what the experts and other owners say about the breed, not what the media says? I would get another one in a minute if we were to lose our pet. Sadly, there is another group who do get them for the wrong reasons, because of the reputation. And banning the dog will do nothing to help, because this is the same group that had German Shepards when they were the “dangerous dog”, then rottweillers, then Dobermans.
Please, continue to tell the truth. That is all responsible dog owners, pitbull and other breeds, really ask.

Great letter Schwinn!!
That was a great segment! I am so glad that Alex said right off the start that Bryant was invited and declined!
Some of the callers were great, many just repeated many things - I guess that comes with nerves when you get through... or stupidity...
The absolute BEST part was Donna Tempe!! She was fantastic!! And the fact that Bryant and his clan of misfits haven't even tried to contact the family at all!!! She was peeved about that, and I'm glad that she said so!!
The last guy that rambled about a lady being attacked and that the dogs are ticking time bombs was a fool. I can't even take someone serious anymore when I hear pit bull and ticking time bomb in the same sentence... I begin to tune them out.
What I find sooooo frustrating is the fact that the EXPERTS are sitting there saying that these dogs are not the problem and goving ideas as to what NEEDS to be done!! These idiots STILL wanna listen to Bryant!!
If it was a Safety Concil saying that brushing your teeth was dangerous and that the toothpaste is deadly, people would listen, but from some reason people just don't want to listen to these experts!! I am so confused!

Thanks. I just typed off the top of my head. I wanted to try and get it in before the end. I would have liked to have refined it a bit more, but I was hoping to get it on. j
I know what you're saying about being frustrated about people not listening, but don't forget, this is the first time I can remember the media being on our side (mostly). This is the first time people who are against the dogs have had the media disagree with them as well. Not only that, you're always going to get people disagreeing, not matter what.

The other thing that was great was when it was mentioned - why do people get these dogs?? - and the guy from OVMA said ask Dalton McGuinty! I was soooo hoping that would come up!!! Apparently they have/had a pit bull in the family named Toby, Tory, something like that!!! YEAH!!!
Alex did wonderful! It seemed a little one sided (on our side for a change), but hey, the opposition was invited and declined! Guess Bryant didn't have time to learn something before the segment... What a loser that "man" is.....You're right, people will ALWAYS disagree... I just wanna shake them!! Shake them SOOO hard!!

From the legislatrure about McGinty's dog:
Mr Dunlop: I hear someone talking about John Tory. I got an e-mail the other day about Dalton McGuinty's family actually having a pit bull terrier named Tory McGuinty. Dalton McGuinty's family had a dog named Tory McGuinty.
Mr Dunlop: Well, I hear you talking about John Tory over here. I just thought I'd add the fact that Dalton McGuinty's family had a dog named Tory McGuinty and he's a pit bull terrier. Obviously, he likes pit bull terriers and he likes Tories. Search that out, because it's a fact. It is a fact: Tory McGuinty. He signed, actually put his paws on, a petition

Maybe that is why nobody is getting responses from his office. Do you think that he could put a muzzle on MB, he is the boss. I certainly would not want someone working for me trying to get English Mastiffs banned. But alas he is a politician and the laws do not apply to them. Did anybody tape the show or know if they will be replaying it. I :o missed it
