Lump on roof of mouth?

My 2 year old female Golden has developed a lump on the roof of her mouth, right behind her front teeth. It's about the size of a pencil eraser. We just noticed it the other day, and don't have a clue what could be causing it. It doesn't seem to bother her. She still eats, chews, and plays as usual. The only thing I've noticed is that occassionally wipes her nose on her bed, and rubs her face with her paws. She does this once or twice per day.

Is this something I should be worried about? We just noticed it a few days ago, and have been giving it time to go down, in case it was just inflammation from chewing on something sharp.

I would take this dog to the vet today. It might be harmless, but it might be a tumour and the sooner you go, the better.

Anyone else have any past experiences with this sort of thing?

The vet doesn't seem to think it is anything to be concerned about - probably just inflammation from a toy. I'll just keep an eye on it for a few weeks and make sure it gets smaller rather than bigger.
