ok I have a cat who is two years old and i had the fire alarm go off now before he not show they since but as it was going off he was moving his head back and forth a bit. then after the alarm was over i notice he was having trouble walking and his balance was off and he tit his head to the right. could the alarm cause him to have a inner ear go out of weck or what is up. I do also have two other cats one is a 5 years old and the other is a almost a year old and there fine and it did not hurt them

I'm not an expert but i do not think a normal alarm sound would cause any permanent damage to your cat. :fingerscr

Could he have had a startle reflex to the sound and hit his head while he was reacting to it? I think if it were me, I'd have him in the vet for a checkup if he's not improving.

Like Marko, I don't think just the sound would have been enough to damage his ears.

I hope he's better! :goodvibes:

When I was training with my hearing dog , the trainer who trained my dog came into my bedroom and said my hearing aid is feed backing a lot and that can hurt my dog ears . So I guess it could hurt a cat ear too , or maybe your has an ear infection and his ears are more sensitive to sounds ?
