I took my dog to the vet 8 days ago for a cough and after xrays they discovered pneumonia in her 1 lung and was prescribed 500mg Ampicillin & 150mg Baytril on the 2nd day after she woke up she cannot stand or walk anymore i have to carry her to go pee & pooh am wondering if anyone thinks this is normal since the pills make her very tired

Did you try find out if your dog was getting the right dosage for his weight ? You should be able find it on line. I found a link but I had to sign up to use it.

she is 80lbs i called the vet today and they said 500mg Ampicillin & 150mg Baytril is the right dosage but i know she is very tired and tries to get up to go to the washroom but i end up carrying her

she was coughing pretty hard could the cough made her pull a muscle or something?

I hope she is not too tried to drink enough water or eat. Poor puppy. I hope she will feel better real soon. Can give the meds to your dog at night before bed time ?

This isn't a normal reaction to the meds, PC-Health. If it were us, we'd have the vet take another look at her. It could be that the meds aren't working for the pneumonia and she'll need a new antibiotic--or it could be that there is an underlying cause for the pneumonia that isn't treatable with antibiotics. If she's not markedly better by tomorrow, we'd be taking her in for another evaluation.

I hope she's feeling much better soon! I know how difficult it is when your dog is sick and nothing seems to be helping. :grouphug:

How old is your dog? Could something else be going on concurrently?
