Female Cat in heat wont let me be

My roommate has a female cat that goes into heat constantly, I have counted at least 8 times now, the problem is she wont leave me alone, I am a female 36. She has little to do with me when she isn't in heat in fact she runs away when I walk toward her, but when she is in heat she meows and crouches down and makes a kind of chirping crying sound, she also follows me everyplace and will meow and chirp/cry and scratch at my door or the bathroom door. When I say something like go away she seems to react to my voice as well and does that chirping thing and lowers her back end down. It is driving me nuts and it honestly is getting on my last nerve, my roommate says she is getting the cat fixed soon. But its been at least 6 months of this, why is this cat doing this? and how can I get it to stop. There is absolutely no relationship between me and this cat, and as I said she has absolutely nothing to do with me when not in heat. PLEASE HELP! :eek:

I'd suggest getting the cat spayed.

Ive told my roommate to get her fixed, she hasn't she isn't my cat so I do not feel I should pay to have the cat fixed.

Well... Above all remember it's not the cat's fault. It never is. Maybe your roommate has been procrastinating or maybe she's short on money for the surgery in which case she could (or he I don't know) find out with the local no kill shelters about more economic options to have her spayed.
It's not good for her (the cat) either to be like that.
She's going through a natural cycle, relax. Maybe she likes your smell or something. You are describing after all the typical behavior of a cat in heat. It's all normal and good but she needs to be spayed to prevent the possibility of illness later in life and/or unplanned kittens :(

I agree 100% that the cat should be fixed, she seems like she is suffering to me. I have my own cat that I had spay as soon as it was possible to do so. I am not sure that money is the issue but more like laziness. I have been patient but when I am woken up constantly by someone else's cat patience start to dwindle. I know it isn't the cats fault, I just wanted to know if there is some way to get the cat to leave me alone, until my roomy gets her fixed. I guess no one has an answer.

Can you try buying a spray that keep cats from couches and spray it near your bedroom's door ? I would look n line and find a list of low cost vets and show it to your roommate. It's really so unfair for the
to keep letting her go into heat , it can really drive a cat nutty.

It appears that the problem is with your roomy, not your roomy's cat. Maybe you need to sit down with your roomy and have a serious heart-to-heart chat about the issue?
