Anyone have any ideas for this month's photo challenge?

Have we done "Pets keeping cool", yet? Seems appropriate today. :)

That sounds like a good one for summer (despite it being cloudy and drizzly in Vancouver today).

I like it - Pets keeping cool it is - merging suggestion posts now. Thx!

Dusty has discovered that water isn't the only way to stay cool...

Then again, if there's no mud handy at the park, one can always just lay down in the water bowl...

Those are great pics! Like Marko said, no problem here in Vancouver staying cool, just get out of bed! We're still raining and very cool, no swimmin yet.

Lovely pix Soundy! Really like the mud one :D

We were down at Dogwood Park near White Rock on the weekend, they have a "pond" there that right now is a lot of dirty water, and a little mud flat at the bottom end... Dusty wandered into the shallow water over the mud flat and just laid right down. What a lovely mess that was! The weather around here this week, I think it's as much that he just likes laying in the water, moreso than trying to keep cool.

Humph...bowl of water or a stream?

77852

Bowl's no fun!

77853

Mollie think's otherwise

This is the closet Mollie or Gryphon come to water. They could use some lessons from Chum CsqU4r3d!

We'll just have to make Gryphon an Honorary Pack Member, DOG. :D The Pack totally understands and applaud both Gryphon and Mollie for allowing common sense to guide them in the presence of that substance from the devil, clean water!!

Is that Bailey in the pool with your daughter? :cloud9:

Chum looks like he's thinking "Holy cow Mom, you didn't tell me the water was that cold!" It's a great shot. Halo's with the pack and Molly and Gryphon on this one - don't even bother putting out a kiddy pool for this lab!

What great shots everyone....Chum says y'all don't know what your missing, I can smell water from miles away and have never met a puddle, river, lake or ocean I didn't like. HHHMMM I have never seen a swimmy pool tho....better send mum out to get me one!:laughing:

Not a swimmy pool as such, but we picked up a 4' kiddie wading pool at Toys R Us a couple summers ago for the Mini-Mutts... was something like $15.

What a shocker, that a dog named for a type of fish likes the water ;)

Soundy if the weather here ever warms up I will have to make a trip to the toy store....Chum would be in 7th heaven...LOL I was thinking he was named for shark bait!! Careful in that ocean Mr. C!

Went to the beach in White Rock this past Sunday... first thing Dusty did when he hit the sand was find the first tidal pool, walk in, and lay down:

http://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/483278_10150958597489285_896373456_n.jpg

Running through the water helps keep one cool with all the splashing :)

It's always nice to share your cool with new friends (even if they don't seem to appreciate it)!

Have to agree with Soundy, Carmy did look like she was saying AAHHHHHH. :D
Soundy great pics at White Rock, where on the beach did you go? Last time I was down there I got in hell for having my dogs out of the car pretty much, they don't even let you walk on the sidewalks with them let alone get near the beach! (This wasn't even in the summer, but off season.:frustrated:) You must have been well off the beaten path. Haven't gone back down there in years now for that reason alone sadly. Well that and now that we've left Richmond it's a lot farther out.

We go to what's generally known as "East Beach", on the SFN lands, so the city bylaw weenies have no control. There's a gravel parking lot behind the WAG, it's $6 for all day parking (vs. $3/hr. on the street) and when it's busy they actually have attendants making sure people park properly (bring cash though!). At low tide, you've got probably a quarter-mile of sand and tidal pools before you hit the ocean, and the little guys really seem to prefer running on the soft sand.

Map here: http://goo.gl/maps/HdLn

As for "far"... hey, we're coming from Pitt Meadows - it's an easy half-hour drive via the Golden Ears Bridge, straight down 176th to 8th, and a quick jaunt over - the WAG is the first thing when you come out of the wooded areas, before you have to make your way along the beachfront crawl.

Okay you win for far! Plus you pay a toll to go over the bridge! You are a good doggy mom to do that just to let them play in the ocean. :thumbs up

I would imagine it's busy out there though with lots of dogs? Halo isn't so great with strange dogs unfortunately, but that's okay, she also isn't fond of the water so it's not likely we'll run into you there. That said, I think I'd recognize your dogs :D

I have to change my avatar pic to one of me instead of Groucho, so people stop thinking I'm mom... *sigh*

We normally go to Clayton Park, usually 2-3 times a week, so we're crossing the bridge for the park either way. It's worth it to avoid the hideous traffic going around the long way.

Fairly busy, but at low tide, it's a BIG - BIG area, so it's not hard to keep to yourself :)

I love this series. We've had quite a bit of heat recently so we get down to the river (N. Sask) as often as we can to cool off with all the other dogs. Smokey loves to swim and will chase a ball or stick until he gets it. Tigger and Puck stand along the edge and get muddy. Pepper likes to just relax in the grass.
