"Marco" who is an indoor/outdoor cat failed to retun home on Feb 21, 2012. He is never out for more than 12 hours. He is a black and white neutered male with a distinctive black nose. Approximately 1.5 years old (the picture is a little dated) Missing from Elmvale, ON just north of Barrie. He is friendly and may have been picked up mistaking him for a stray. He is a much loved family pet and we just want him home! If you have any information about Marco please email {removed}

If you can put his litterbox and/or a worn but unwashed t shirt or pair of smelly shoes of yours out on the deck this may help lead him home :fingerscr

Go around the neighbourhood at dusk/dawn calling him, rattling a treat container or tap a spoon on his dish or tin of food. Bring a flashlight to pick up the shine off his eyes from under cars/decks/bushes or up trees.

If you can poster the neighbourhood, plus leave one w/ local businesses, pet supply stores, grocery stores, vets & all animal shelters in the area that will help garner attention that this kitty has a home who wants him back

Please visit the animal shelters in person often times the shelters are understaffed/over worked with so many animals/requests etc they may not have the time to personally look into each phone call or an emergency/something comes up in the meantime & the request gets overlooked.

Going in person means you can visit & identify the cat right away, if an animal comes in terrified it may act out of character & be labeled as sick or a feral and not be placed with the general population please ask to see these areas as well.

He is adorable - good luck :goodvibes: & :fingerscr

Unfortunately, we heard some bad news today. A neighbour 3 doors away noticed our missing posters around town and called with some information. Approximately 3-4 weeks ago he found a black & white cat dead at the side of his house. He said he could see his footprints in the snow where it looked as though he'd walked up and fallen over and died. There were no marks visible and he assumed he was a stray who had maybe frozen to death. Marco would be outside during long periods, sometimes overnight and when he would get cold he would come to our sliding glass door so we know he wouldn't have just frozen to death. We live on a quiet cul de sac with very limited, slow traffic and have never seen an animal hit there. There is a busier main road behind our house which would be a possibilty, but we would have had to walk a long way and jump a six foot fence afterward to end up where he was found. My only guess can be that he was poisoned, either intentionally or unintentionally. It's never been heard of in our small town or neighbourhood. At the time the neighbour did not realize he was our cat and we were not able to identify him for sure but we had never seen any other black and white cats in the area. We are glad for the closure but left with a mystery. Rest in peace Marco.
