Testing for Addison's Disease

Suzie is being tested for Addison's Disease as I type this, we'll have results by tomorrow. Does anyone else here have an Addison's Dog and if so, what are your experiences? Is the treatment difficult or expensive?

We had a very tense weekend of Emergency Vet visits and having to force her to drink and eat, I am relieved that there may be a light at the end of the tunnel - even if a serious disease; at least we can treat it.

Suzie's heart stopped while at the vet and they couldn't revive her. :( This is a terrible day.

Oh that is so sad. I am so so sorry. Suzie must have been quite ill from her hectic weekend. She is healthy and young and whole again running at the Bridge with all the others.

Thank you, everyone. I never expected this to be a thread like this. I'm absolutely devastated and having a hard time keeping it together. We fought so hard to keep her going until her vet opened, and thought she was going to be all good just as soon as we could get her medication. I feel awful because we had to opt out of some treatment at the emergency vet because we couldn't afford 1400+ dollars with a baby very soon on the way. I know in hindsight it's always easy to make those judgements, but... It's going to weigh on my conscience for a long time. I'm pregnant and due January 23rd so in between all of this stress, I have to try and keep my strength up so I can deliver a baby. I'm honestly having the worst time of my life and it's going to be an uphill struggle for the next while. I hate that she died, she was our little ray of sunshine and i feel like a peice of me is dead without her here. :(

A little part of us always dies when they do. It's part of the love that we share with them.

You might have spent that money, and it might not have made a difference in whether she made it or not. I spent a lot of money to keep my girl alive, but it didn't. She died anyway. Sometimes, sometimes, we just can't save them.

To help with the grief and guilt, you might use these two Bach remedies - Star of Bethlehem for grief, and Pine for guilt.

Get a small dropper bottle from the health food store and put some purified water, and put 5 drops of each in it. Throughout the day, take 4 drops.
