I've got two indoor cats, female tortie, 7 years, male orange tabby, 6 years, both spayed/neutered. Two days ago, the female went in for teeth cleaning and had four teeth removed. When I brought her home, Spike (the male), is now afraid of her. Different smells on her, mouth does not smell bad anymore. I've tried wiping her down with the bed they slept together on, I've given Spike Rescue Remedy and yesterday put on a Good Behaviour pheromone collar. He is hiding from her and if she comes into a room he's in, he crouchs low, ears back, hissing, hackles up and loud growling/yowling either running away or if she leaves, he skulks after her making those noises.
There have been times before when she would get outside and when brought back in, he has not liked it with some hissing but nothing as bad as these last two days.
He has always been sensitive to change but this is the worse I've seen him. I'm afraid it will escalate into fighting and who knows what else.
Am I missing something to try?
