Trimming Curled Cat Whiskers?

Hi Guys,

Long story short, my mom forgot to turn off the stove & it was left on, I didn't notice it either as it wasn't on high, so my cat being curious got close enough to curl a few of his whiskers, luckily nothing else happened, I'm pretty sure the whiskers is the reason he didn't go closer.. I was there aswell so grabbed him off as soon as I noticed he was near the stove..

Anyway the question is can I trim the curled whiskers? It's been over a month and they are not growing straight..

And also will it cause him any pain?

I agree with Winston, let them grow back naturally.

yup - i too would not trim them at this point. cats use them to feel their way around stuff and through stuff.

Thanks for response guys, I've decided to leave them as they are..

Whiskers are a stiffer version of fur with special muscles at the base to let them transmit sensations. (I think I'm remembering that right) But just like normal fur they eventually fall out and get replaced. I sometimes find shed whiskers lying in my cats' favourite sleepling place. Eventually, your cat will shed the curled whiskers and normal whiskers should grow in to replace it.
