lab/collie with red marks

I have a 1 year old black lab/collie, a very nice and pleasant dog.
Recently after coming home I was petting him and noticed this red mark on his stomach/chest area.....

there is not any blood, but it looks like a scar

can anyone give me some advise?

It looks like some sort of growth to me, bigdaddyluke. There are growths that commonly develop on younger dogs, most of which are benign, some of which are not. Best to have him checked by a vet to have a needle biopsy done. Then you'll have a better idea what you might be dealing with.
