Kitty leaking from her vag

My recently adopted from the SPCA kitty is leaking from her vag (I think). It started last month - She'll sit in front of her food dishes for a few mins and when she finally moves to the crunchies and starts eating them, she's left a small pale brown liquidy spot on the floor about the size of a loonie. It's not blood because it's not red or the consistency and it's not feces cause it certainly doesn't smell of such. She stopped doing it for about 2-3 weeks and then started up again yesterday. It's not every single time, but usually once or twice in a day and only usually in front of the crunchies or litter box.

My husband says he had a female fixed cat that did the same thing and 'grew out of it' he said...

This cat is spayed and 5 years old...

Anyone have any idea?

Thanks for adopting a shelter kitty! I am wondering if she might just have a urinary infection? does she drink alot of water? the other thing is when they urinate outside the boxits usually their way of indicating there is an issue with something? if your kitty is overweight and the litter box has sides on it she may have some issues getting in or out?

Have you let the spca know there is an issue? perhaps there is some medical info you dont have if she was recently adopted?

Probably the first thing to do is try to identify where this liquid is coming from; her vag, her bladder, or maybe her anal glands.
Next time she does it can you pick her up and see where it came from....maybe using a tissue to see which area is moist ?
And like Winston said, check the litter box and surrounding area thoroughly.
Otherwise, I would have her vet checked before waiting too long.
