renegaderuby September 19th, 2011, 08:18 PM We OFFICIALLY have our cat trooper, but a stray had been coming up probably about the last six- eight months ago..so "technically" we have two cats. "boomer" is what we affectionatly call him because he had a boomerrang shaped mark on his nose. He was a gray and white kitty , just beautiful. He would never "trust" us to pet him , no matter how hard we tried. But he eventually learned that we wouldnt "eat em" or "harm him" and would at least stop RUNNING off the porch when we come outside. We also put extra food out, to cover his "ration" ..lol.
Well I wanted to have everyone  for boomer, as we've not seen him in about a week and a half. I imagine he is probably caterlwaling with a female around here...but at the same time..the animal lover in me is worried that we cant find him in his usual haunts...and or he's not been coming for food. Any prayers you can muster that he's just on a long date, would be great!
Rgeurts September 19th, 2011, 09:29 PM You and Boomer have my prayers  :grouphug:

Dog Dancer September 20th, 2011, 11:01 AM Thoughts and prayers that Boomer finds his way back home to your feeding dish for him. Any chance that you could trap him if he came back and get him neutered? I assume since you think he's out "on a date" he isn't fixed yet. Poor boy. I pray he's okay. Thank you for caring for him and about him RR.
Melinda September 20th, 2011, 11:15 AM come on back to those that care about you Boomer!:fingerscr

Well, you raise a good point. I know a clinic that will neuter strays for low cost. But unfortuantly he's rather wild...and I think if I get him IN the trap, I'd likely not be able to get him OUT of it to take him. And if I take him in cage, THEM getting him out to hold him long enough to knock him out would be so tramatic, I'd bet a million if they could even manage it...getting him back home and let loose, likely we'd never see him again.
I hate that he's likely adding to the "stray" population around this countryside. But...I dont know if its feasble we take him in. Trooper was actually a very good "find" ..lol.
He was eating out of the dumpsters at the place I worked at..and I kept saying, if he's here tommorow and will let us pick him up. we'll take him home to be an outside kitty (i cant breathe if they stay inside..unfortuantly im very allergic to cats)...so imagine my surprise when I go call him to me..and he RUNS up to me , and as I pick him up (benedryl in system :) )...flip him over to see if he is a he or a she...I find he is a NEUTERD boy.
Look for his owners...no one claims him. HOME HE CAME. that cat sat in my lap the entire 20 min ride home, and just PURRED.
LOL...sweet kitty he is.
So..fortunatly we didt have to alter him.
But...boomer kitty has his goobies...so. :(

Actually, you'd be surprised. First of all, use a humane trap (perhaps you can try to find a TNR group in your area that will lend you one) and just take the whole kit-n-kaboodle, cat inside, to the vet. Definitely DO NOT try to get him out, that would likely be disastrous. The vet should be well versed in handling hostile cats, and if not, find a vet who is. Or if you actually can find a feral TNR group (where in Texas are you, perhaps I can help?), they might even handle the whole thing for you (trap, transportation, neutering, etc).
I'm also willing to bet that this guy will indeed stick around after the "procedure" if he has a steady food supply from you. You may never get him in a trap again, but at least he'll have had the necessary medical stuff looked after, and he'll be much healthier in the long run.
chico2 September 20th, 2011, 04:56 PM RR.a long time ago I fed a stray male we called George, like clockwork he would be on my deck twice daily.
I could not touch him, could only watch,he would come with scratches and wounds every day, which made me cry..
Our Humane Society lent me a trap, but he was too darn smart...unfortunately one day,he just did not come back, with all the dangers out there,it's bound to happen..
I'll pray for Boomer, but if he is not coming back, try to feel better, knowing for a while you helped him, helped him survive by feeding him and caring.
renegaderuby September 20th, 2011, 07:31 PM Scat, well if he comes back , we'll give it a whirl.
Chico,
Yeah. Fortunatly we've never seen him beat up. So..thats a good think. But he definatly has a "tude' ...lol . We'll see. Thanks for the prayers everyone!
Koteburo September 25th, 2011, 12:59 AM You can be sure Boomer will be in my prayers for a safe come back
:goodvibes: :fingerscr :lovestruck: for Boomer <3
Go back home kitty angel Boomer
renegaderuby September 28th, 2011, 01:26 PM Just an update. We've still not seen boomer. I'm not trying to sound like a downer, and that I've given up hope...but I think he's "gone" :( . Gone How...I dont know. Maybe he finally trusted someone and let them take him home (doubtful, but hey I gotta hope right). But...more than likely..he's at the Rbridge.
If he does beat the odds and shows back up.. I'l sure let everyone know.
Meantime..i'm trying not to be too upset about it. As..he was cared about and loved from afar :)
Koteburo September 28th, 2011, 03:56 PM I was looking forward to an update
I thought since it was taking long you got no news from Boomer
You meant well and sometimes we just can't control those situations.
 for Boomer wherever you are baby.
renegaderuby September 28th, 2011, 08:31 PM To everyone that is praying for boomer. Thank you. I hope I'm wrong and that he comes home. But I'm being realistic that after three weeks, I think he's either at the rainbow bridge...or he is in someway gone for good. If he comes back. I will tell everyone. But I think we should shut this thread down now ...so it dosent waste space, and time away from more important threads.
Thank you again everyone!!!
chico2 September 29th, 2011, 07:21 AM RR,no cat/dog is ever a waste of space,feral or not,they are all important.
I hope Boomer will return, since he's not neutered he might be following the scent of females around and cannot find his way back to you.
Of course it's up to you whether you want to keep this thread open, but we don't consider news of Boomer a waste of space,ever..
Rgeurts September 29th, 2011, 10:25 AM It's definitely not a waste of space, RR. And in the off chance he does return, keeping it open so you can update us with the good news would be wonderful :) :grouphug:
Dog Dancer September 29th, 2011, 01:01 PM I agree it's not a waste of space. Try to think positive, Boomer is probably out sowing his wild oats :yell: - nice for him, but overall not a good thing, and has put you out of his mind. In all likelihood somebody else is now feeding him. But you never know, he may show up again one day and we'll all be waiting to hear about it. It's so nice that you care.
renegaderuby September 29th, 2011, 03:04 PM Ok, thank you. I just dont want to take away from others threads, when boomer may or may not return. But I guess your right. Ferel or not..he is important to ME, (and all of you apparently..lol) so...there ya go.
