Three little kittens.

An old man stood up from his work in the garden. A noise caught his ears. He followed it. As he neared the road, he realized it was an animal cry. Multiple cries. They came from the barn. He opened the gate and stepped inside. The horrible noise echoed from the loft. He made his way up the stairs.

At the top, sat a tall box in the middle of all the items stored there. The cries were coming from it, a box he had never seen before.

He peered into it and sadness washed over him. Three kittens, starved and barely a few weeks old screamed at him from the bottom. No mother, no food, no water.

He picked them up. If not, the too tall box would not have ever let them escape. They never stopped crying.

"Poor, poor babies, itty bitty babies. Damn no good neighbors must've dropped ya'll off. Come on, let's get some food in them bellies. Must be hung hung."

Home they went. He and his wife fed and sheltered the little ones. They grew into healthy, active kittens. Two bobtail females and one long-haired, long tailed male.

The couple gave one female and the male to their grand children, who came down for one but of course left with two.

The End.

This is the story of how I got Nooks and her brother Fat Boy (passed). We still have no idea who put that box in our barn.

People make me sick sometimes. I just don't understand how you can abandon little helpless kittens (or any other animal for that matter) like that. Am glad this story has a happy ending though.
