Dog Neutering

I have a 5 year old boston terrier that needs to be neuter, trying to find a good price, what should one pay?

Your best bet might be to call around to vets in your area and get estimates. Most clinics around here will give a ballpark figure over the phone for a standard neuter. With luck, the ones in GTA will do the same. :fingerscr

Most major cities have clinics that provide less expensive spay / neuter (due to the massive problem of pet over population); You do not need to prove to be low income. This is all they do, so I would assume they are good at it and can handle all the possible complications etc. This is the toronto area link.

My daughter and SIL just had their pup done yesterday(poor baby is not a happy camper). They paid( I should say I paid) $406.:eek:. This was at Blue Cross on the Danforth. The majority of vets quoted the same. They tried to talk them into getting a lazer treatment for after the surgery. Apparently it's supposed to heal it quicker. That would have been almost $100 more.

What did your vet quote?

2Greatbulldogs, there is a huge waiting list for them. This is because they are a low cost s/n. We called. It was something like a 6 month wait.

Laser therapy applied to the surgical incision after surgery helps with post operative pain, reduces inflammation, and speeds wound healing. A friend of mine had their dog spayed at Blue Cross on the Danforth and the charge for laser therapy after surgery is $20 extra, not $100. Just thought I'd chime in with this correction. The laser therapy is optional and not a requirement.
