I've heard and seen cats play in house plant dirt. I always figured it was fun for them to dig while they ate those tender baby leaves, lol, but no, my cat actually eats the dirt (and those tender baby leaves, rofl. Has anyone ever encountered this or have a tip?

How old is your cat? Does he go outside? Has he always done this? Is he deliberately eating dirt, or incidentally eating the soil that adheres to plants?

What kind of plants is he eating?

He's stricktly a house cat, never been outside in the grass even. He's 5 month's old (May 1st, 2004), a good cat - just can't get him to not touch the plant and the dirt and that's been from day one when I got him at 4 month's old. I only have one plant in the whole house, it's a praying plant (the one that it's leaves lift at night as if praying).

I have an easy solution! Cover the dirt in the plant pot with crumpled aluminum foil, and buy your cat some cat grass.:)
