Susan Garrett and Say Yes Dog Training

How many of the members know who Susan Garrett is and her methods of dog training etc.

I recently watched her video, "Crate Games" and thoroughly enjoyed it. I have her book, "Shaping Success" but have yet to read it. I think one of our members, TeriM had attended a workshop with her out in BC. It's too bad Susan's training facility is 7 1/2 hours away from here :yell:.

I did not do a workshop with her but last summer I did her online "recallers" course. I had followed her blog quite a bit and when she offered this course (her first online) I decided I would try it. We were in the middle of saying goodbye to our old girl Lucy and I thought having something to work on with my younger dog would be good to keep our relationship strong. I actually had a great time. The course was a series of games you play with your dog that gradually built both drive and self control with the end goal of your dog thinking you were the best thing ever and therefore having brilliant recall.

I am currently repeating the course (super special deal for second time) and am having lots of fun again. I have been able to do more work this time then we did the last time (timing very difficult last time). I understand her philosophy a lot better now and really like how she thinks. I do think I might find her a bit overpowering in person but I really like her training style. I am no longer rewarding crap :D, expecting my dog to make good choices and setting things up so that he is able to make those choices and learn.
