Has anyone used ANIPRIL

Quincy is starting to show signs of progressive dememtia over the last few weeks....
I am taking him to the vet today to rule out any other cause of his confusion and memory deficits...but I was researching treatments and one was Anipril. I know it is used for human dementia, but have not heard of anyone with experience using it for pets. I want to have some ideas when I see her today.

Anipryl, aka selegiline or L-deprenyl, is more often used in dogs (for either Cushing's or cognitive disfunction), much rarer to use it in cats. Here is an extremely thorough discussion of feline CDS: http://www.vetstreamfelis.com/ACI/December08/VMD2/dis60684.asp

Definitely make sure Quincy has his T4 levels checked when he goes in to see the vet, as hyperthyroidism can often look like the onset of dementia.

A good multi-vitamin wouldn't hurt either. NuCat Senior is the best one, IMO.
