GF,I keep hoping the younger generation of Chinese will abandon the ancient beliefs, that certain animal-parts benifits them in different ways, such as from bears, tigers, sharks etc..
The Cat/Dog farm horror,be it to harvest the fur to make ornaments, linings in gloves or jackets or for the many restaurants where cat/dog is served as a delicacy has been going on forever, but at least these ones were saved:thumbs up

The dogs, many apparently stolen from their owners, were being transported from the central Chinese province of Henan to restaurants in Jilin province in the north-east, the China Daily said. (my emphasis)

And yet:

The reports on the dog rescue suggested the truck company was unlikely to face legal action as it had all the necessary permits to transport the animals.

So I wonder if they'll investigate where the trucking company got the animals from and who was to gain profit from their sale?

Yes, and it's looking a tiny bit promising in that they want to ban it. As for the other animals and the sharks, horrifying that these things still go on.

Another article on this, pointing out the dogs are typically strays.

Good save by a segment of the Chinese population though.

I've read articles on the way they kill the dogs before they eat them, its horrendous. If rabies is pretty common there, how smart is it to kill and eat a dog that could possibly have rabies?

The Toronto Star has a frontpage picture of the truck and the dogs this morning.
They make a point of calling them mongrels and wild dogs, not entirely true:(
The Star fails to mention Canadas part in the dog/cat fur trade,no less horrible.
Our government and others, turn a blind eye to all kinds of imports that are questionable, after all,no matter what China does, there is big money involved, turn a blind eye to ethics and morals.
The fur on your jacket-hood,the lining in your gloves, the cute little kitty-ornaments so very lifelike, once kept a cat/dog warm..

I know what someone might say and I agree, our own treatment of animals to slaughter is not entirely humane, even our treatment of cats/dogs,but nothing compares to the horrors in China:yell:
