A couple of mourning-Doves..chico2 April 17th, 2011, 04:13 PM Took the pic through the window,so not very clear... hazelrunpack April 17th, 2011, 04:15 PM Very pretty, chico! Ours are getting all cooey and lovey-dovey already. :D A sure sign of Spring, even though it keeps trying to snow! :yell: Tundra_Queen April 17th, 2011, 04:31 PM chico, they are so pretty!! I love mourning doves their cooing is so peaceful. We had 2 last year in the garden. And they are back again this year. I've heard them cooing,,,haven't seen them yet, but I know they are in or around our yard some place...today I hope they are snuggled up nice and warm answe got 2 ft of snow dumped on us last night and it is still snowing. Dee-O-Gee April 17th, 2011, 06:10 PM Beautiful doves Chico2. We've had a couple of doves around our feeder lately along with Pigeons, Starlings, Chickadees, House Finches, and oh yes....Cardinals! :cloud9: chico2 April 18th, 2011, 07:31 AM We have sooooo many Doves..I love this time of the year, when every creature is in love,or looking for love:thumbs up Melinda April 18th, 2011, 07:42 AM beautiful pics!!! we have dozens of them here year round, I love listening and waking up to them on our front verranda rail, its right outside my bedroom window Goldfields April 18th, 2011, 09:31 AM They look so soft and gentle, Chico, and unfortunately we don't have them down here. :( chico2 April 18th, 2011, 09:42 AM Melinda, these two were sitting in my Magnolia-tree just outside my bed-room window.. The Mourning-Doves usually make at least one nest in my Blue Spruce in the front, they are kind of dumb, because their nests are usually very visible, hence the eggs or babies get taken:( GF,Mourning-Doves are very common here, lots of them around, they somehow look very fragile and soft. Goldfields April 18th, 2011, 10:14 AM That is such a shame, that they don't hide their nests. You are lucky having such a lovely dove, I'd be envious but I got a great sighting today, and didn't even think to grab the camera. Duh! Anyway, by the time I figured what it was, it flew off. A juvenile Crimson Rosella. I've been hearing their bell like chiming call and thinking I couldn't be so lucky. I've only had them here a couple of times in 35 years, they come, they eat all the berries off the Cotoneasters, then are gone. http://www.google.com.au/search?q=Crimson+rosella&hl=en&sa=G&prmd=ivns&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&ei=hFSsTaLaBYSKvgOt6a2cCg&ved=0CDQQsAQ&biw=862&bih=580 hazelrunpack April 18th, 2011, 10:20 AM :highfive: I hope he sticks around for you, GF! Beautiful birds! Our birds love cotoneaster berries, too! Goldfields April 18th, 2011, 10:56 AM Nicest sighting I had, and it was a long time ago , was a Mistletoe bird that come down to check out the cotoneaster berries. They're not even as big as a sparrow but you can't miss them. http://birdsinbackyards.net/species/Dicaeum-hirundinaceum I have fingers crossed that the rosellas stay for a while. I only ever used to see them on our trips down to dog shows at Hamilton, and those and blue wrens are the two birds I really wished were in our area. No wrens yet. :( Anyway, enough, I shouldn't start chattering about birds on Chico's thread. Bina April 18th, 2011, 02:27 PM when I was out on our deck last week a few doves were doing the "cutesy" cooing and cuddling stuff. Shaykeija April 20th, 2011, 11:14 PM I love their cooing... | ||||
