...that I was wearing jammies!

As usual Ceili was her I want out- I want in- I want out- I want in self with the patio this morning so the sliders were open. Now, Ceili isn't much of a barker and she's scared of her own shadow, so when she lets out a mighty WOOF I'm there like a shot.

Which was great ~ gave me a chance to have a nice conversation the meter man who was peeping  over my fence with binoculars...:laugh::laugh:

You sure he wasn't looking at you, mx3? LOL. Good girl, Ceili, hey?
Poor fellow, not the best job if you are wary of dogs. Could he really read it from a distance though? :) I had to make sure ours could get to the meter after Shady(ACD) bailed one of them up in the back garden. LOL. He came in the wrong gate and by the time I got out to them he was whacking at her with his clip board and she had worked herself up into a rage. Took me 3 swipes at her with a plastic garden rake just to get her attention.

when we lived in the trailer court and had a fenced yard, the meter man always used binoculars to read the meter in case the dogs were out. they're known for doing that , it saves them from coming into your yard

Hmmmm...hair sticking straight up on one side of my head. Pasty white face. Squinty puffy eyes. Dragon breath...If he's looking at ME then he reaaaalllly needs Lavalife.

Oh dear. That must have been frightening for all three of you. I wonder if they get dog-proofing/ B. Mod. training of any kind. If memory serves...which if often doesn't... Erykah worked in this type of field in Onscario and would know.

I live in what many would consider a highly undesirable nabe (lots of street prostitution, drugs etc. In fact my house used to be a crack/whore house! :D Believe me, the meter man was VERY grateful I cut back the rose as it meant he didn't have to come in the yard anymore.

I think after Shady went troppo at the guy a little note would have been added to our file, because no-one's come in the wrong gate since. LOL. That's interesting that they read your meters that way, if I ever catch up to our guy I'll ask do they do it here. My meter is inside a special wall cabinet on our porch, so they must come in.
Laughing at that description 3xm, sounds so much like me first thing in the morning. Not a pretty sight. Doesn't matter where you live as long as you stay safe. So, your neighbors are people with problems, how do you find them though? I've a friend living in a similar area here and she seems to be happy enough, however tho' drugs would be a problem I'm not sure there'd be crack houses here. What do I know though, I'm in the country. Duh!

Interestingly, the hydro meter folks have some sort of gizmo that *sees* through walls. They just stand outside my house, point the gizmo and read my hydro meter, which, like yours is inside a closet.

Before I *retired*, I worked in some of the roughest neighbourhoods in Canada ~ public housing for 22 years, Min's of Community and Social Services as well as Health for 7 or so years prior to that. Not much I haven't seen and not much *scares* me (other than me in the morning:D) I truly like living here. Because it's *poor*, housing is relatively inexpensive ~ draws alot of the artsy crowd. There tends to be a real community spirit here ~ "neighbours helping neighbours" sort of thing.

That sounds great, the people you have around you. We are supposed to be getting smart meters here, which don't have to be read. I don't know when they'll ever get here mind you.
I must be off to bed, early for me but I have to shop tomorrow. Couldn't on Friday because Ian took a fall the previous night and I stayed home to try and talk him into having a cut on his hand stitched. He refused point blank to do that of course. Men!! Anyway, he also hit his jaw and we think he has a fracture, at least he's now agreed to me making a Dr's appointment to have that investigated.

"Our" guy doesn't even bother getting out of his vehicle. He just uses the binos. Lazy sod. :frustrated:

I'd freak if someone was reading my meter that way and I saw it. Not freak mad at him, freak scared the bejeezes out of me! You probably have a "smart meter" m3x. They're just in the process of starting to use them out here, they emit periodic readings electronically, so technically the meter guy can just drive down the street and scan your house and get the reading. A lot of people are questioning if the emissions from these are safe long term, but they are where the meters are going. Halo would raise the roof if she caught somebody in our yard, then she'd sit pretty and wait for a cookie...:o

If I caught someone looking over my fence with binos I would hope they were looking at me and not my meter ....:o
I'd be grateful for a lil bit of excitement! LMAO.
Ha! Ya know you're having some kind of a mid life crisis when you're wishing the meterman was eyeing ya thru his binos... such is my life ;)
