Update on Casey

March 29th, 2011, 11:21 PM
Thought I would post an update. Casey's neuter went fine. Pretty sure the vet was glad to see him go lol. When I took Neesa in at 4 for her annual wellness check up, I could hear the little monster carrying on. He was pathetic and pittiful that night but the next morning he was back to his normal self. Keeping him calm has been a nightmare .

The only issue we have is I think I am turning my dog into an addict . He was given metacam for 6 days and get's it every morning at 9am. Now he is used to the syringe, before we had Buddy put down, I had to give him a supplement in a syringe. Of course Casey just had to have some too so he is used to the syringe and actually likes it

This morning, I get his syringe with the metacam and the little monster sees it, automatically goes into his sit pretty pose and starts whining desperately could almost hear him saying "come on, give me my fix!!!!!!!" Later I moved the bag with his syringes in it, he sees it and right away goes into sit pretty and starts whining lol. I'm sorry, it really was comical  My mom was in tears laughing at him.

One more week of keeping him relatively calm and limited activities. He may survive but I don't think I will!

Why is Casey on metacam for 6 days if he was only neutered?

The vet gave him a very, very low dose for pain. Tomorrow is his last day for it.

I'm glad he's doing well! :highfive:

You could always fill his syringe with something tasty (homemade lo-salt broth, for instance) and give it to him just once in a while to keep him eager to take things that way. If you need to use it for meds in the future, you'll find it's a whole lot easier to dose a dog with a syringe if he thinks there's something yummy in it... :D

Hope the rest of his recovery goes as smoothly as the first part did!! :goodvibes:
