My cat had kittens!! What to do???

My cat had kittens about a week ago. My husband insists that if I touch the kittens they will be rejected by mom cat. Is this true? If so, when can I touch them?

The last litter of kittens born under my roof was handled from day one. I made sure that they were handled as I wanted them to be good with people. Momma never had a problem.

Sandi is right. You can touch the kittens now, as long as the mother cat is not defensive.

As soon as their eyes open, let other people handle them too, so they get used to more than one or two people. Just have them wash their hands first, so they will not transmit any diseases to the kittens.

Mom can get pregnant again before the kittens are even weaned, so keep her in the house. You can get her spayed as soon as her milk dries up, so this won't happen again.
