I cant even muster up anything to say about this right now, but I think everyone needs to fire off an email or make a call, what ever happened to speaking for those who have no voice?

How do they have the nerve to call themselves the society for prevention to animals if clearly nothing was done on their end to prevent the cruelty these horses endured.
So sad

Sadly this comes as no surprise........
I honestly think that there should be one governing legislative body for all these shelters, HS and SPCA across Canada. That they should be accountable as one body not as way too many separate bodies. There should be funding specific to address the laws and finally put in to place severe penalties for these acts of cruelty. I am so very sad and sick to death of the slaps on the wrists that these a**holes get for these kinds of actions. Why can't they do jail time. Why can't they have fines that are so financially devasting that they will never have the funds to buy another animal? Why can't they be forced to shovel s**t for a year at a shelter without pay...... God, just something.....
I'm sorry I am venting but it is so very hard to accept and I refuse to do so.... someone needs to make a difference legally..... in my lifetime please!

The animal cruelty laws in this province... wait COUNTRY are a joke.
Main arguement i have heard on this so far is "well where would LHS have put the horses?" really? Bad excuse, take them, and find foster homes. Even locally to me SPCA basically ignores many horses in distress because they will not foster them out. Anyone with horses would take in one that was being apprehended for cruelty. Same for cattle, sheep ect. Farm animals seem to suffer horrific deaths despite being reported and no one bats an eye.

In a three hour radius there must be at least 250 barns...... so that is the biggest BS I have heard yet.........

I'm still so heartbroken over this, I mean the cold and pain that poor Cocoa suffered in those last months is more than I can bear to imagine.
When my old guy drops weight when he is getting due for his biannual teeth float (which is NOTHING like what poor Cocoa looked like) even a cool summers eve without a blanket will send him into shivers.
The main way a horse stays warm in the winter months is by eating. I'm so upset that the horrible situation seems to be taken so lightly.
Farm animals just dont seem to get the same attention as cats and dogs sadly.
