My hubby and I are having a b-day party for our puppies next Sunday. Is weird to want to do that? I know they don't care, but I've never been able to have a party before! We're inviting their doggie buddies and I ordered a banana/carob cake! It crazy but my border's birthday and my heeler x's b-days happen to be on the exact same day!!! My border is a purebred and my heeler x is a rescue. They were born on the same day, the same year! How weird?!? We're not sure about my older heeler x. She's either 7 or 8 and her b-day was August 26th (That's the day I adopted her) and we're just lumping them all together. I'm making doggie treat bags for the little visitors! I'm excited!!!

On another note, I didn't want to start yet another thread, I'm getting my little kittens neutered on Tuesday!!! I'm driving to High River as it's cheaper there and the vet's really good. Poor boys! At least they'll be quiet for the evening! LOL!!! :D

I think pet b-day parties are a great idea. Especially for dogs....cats not so much....lol. Dogs can whoop it up with their doggie buddies....but a cat party would just be all hisses and flying fur....so I stick to a new toy mouse! LOL

Cool!!! I was gonna get a liver flavoured cake, but the dogs eat raw food everyday so I thought it'd be nice to give them some variety. We have an awesome dog gourmet bakery here called Puppy Love Gourmet Bakery and that's where I got their cake.

Yeah, I wouldn't have a party for my kitties. They wouldn't have much fun I don't think!!!! :D

That is so cool to have a birthday party for pups!!
I've never really heard of it till I came here. Meat cakes and hotdogs for candles, yuck! But I bet all doggies enjoy this!!!
Yeah, my cats would hate a party... they're not too nice with others! :D

A great idea! If I did that here, everyone would think I had lost my mind...LOL... I have a question though. I know that dogs shouldn't have chocolate. Is carob what they use in the treats instead of chocolate? Is it okay to give dogs the carob chips that you buy from the store (baking supplies)?

I'm not sure about carob from the grocery store, so I just get carob treats from pet stores. Maybe someone else here would know more than me about that......??? :D

Well happy birthday to the pups! :D On Bentley's birthday I'm going to have a huge party where the people buy stuff to donate to the HS. I think its going to be great. Maybe you could do that to? :)

we had a doggy party mixed with a human party once and it just rocked, we all had a heap of fun and the doggies ran aournd in their little pack playing games, it was the cutes thing ever and all the humans had a fun time knowing their babies wernt at home alone (and you will always have an escort to walk home with, or navigate :D , i used to attend no party without charlie) :D :D

but then we throw doggy celebrations often, esp when special friends come to visit like we will in a few weeks, our cousin max the puppy shizu is coming to stay so it will be party hard all the way for fury residents for a few days.

oh and on charlies birthday we always like to give her a really special treat, so we go and get her one of those fancy meals for fancy little dogs and she eats those in her breakfast or we get her a nice big expensive piece of fresh fish (not jsut the plain hoki fillets she eats normally), she loves it and knows she is being treated special :D :D

doggie paries, horrrrah :D :D :D

Any reason for a party is ok with me.
I've seen recipes for doggy birthday cakes but never done it. I do bake my own dog treats, but a cake is something cool.

Make sure you get pictures!!

I will totally get pics!!! That's gonna be so cool!!! As for having a lot of their doggy buddies and our friends, we can't because we don't have a yard yet. I can't imagine the trouble a heap of dogs will get into inside with all of us humans!!!!! We're just ahving a few close friends, and their babies!!! :D
