It's been busy week-need prayers and good vibes for Thorin

Poor Thorin has been having some issues. He starting peeing blood, spent the day at the vet and they ended up doing x-rays, bloodwork and a ua with a culture. He has an e-coli urinary infection that the vet thinks is in his prostate as well. She's worried that he may have prostate cancer and that's why he has an infection?? I'm not going to freak out until we know for sure... my body just can't take much more stress, and Thorin is my baby.
He also has calcium oxylate and struvite crystals both, so we have to do more x-rays to see if there are stones this week. If so, then he needs surgery again :(

All of this and just a week before we're supposed to leave on Holidays

OMG like Thorin hasn't been through enough and you as well. I don't know how you can cope with it all, you are a very strong woman and loving momma to Thorin. You are all in my thoughts and prayers that this will be resolved well and swiftly before your holidays.

Thank you so much! :grouphug:
I cope because I have a wonderful hubby, MIL and a lot of faith lol. If I didn't have the support I do, I would have crumbled months ago lol.
I'm just praying the vet is wrong and it's just an infection caused by the crystals/stones. Stones we can deal with :)

Robyn, I had Shadow into the vet a few months back for a geriatric blood panel. My regular vet was out the next day and his associate called me to tell me that the blood work showed she had a slow growing cancer. Since she is so old already (13) she said there was no point in doing any further tests to locate the cancer because at best we would only do palliative care for her (which I was in full agreement with). Long story short, had her back to see the regular vet this past week and mentioned the cancer and he was like "What?? I don't see anything that says cancer to me." Her liver functions are not normal and haven't been for a while, but he says that just says old age to him, not cancer. I could just kill the other vet for getting me all worked up for nothing. So hopefully Thorin will be fine as well, it's entirely possible that they're just talking without having all the facts. Try not to worry until you have to. :grouphug:

That's what I'm thinking, and 'ing for! Something similar happened with Nookie. Our reg vet was on holidays and the vet we saw was entirely convinced that he had MMM (Myositis)!! He even went as far as to ask us to allow him to put Nookie under and do a muscle biopsy all the way to the skull
We were horrified! We told him we wanted to speak with the specialist before we did anything at all... and it's a good thing. He didn't have Myositis, he had (and still has) pred head, which isn't harmful and the muscle in his head/face will eventually return. He's already starting to fill out.
The vet who is seeing Thorin isn't our reg vet, she's gone to seminars until the 18th, so I won't panic until she tells me to, though I still can't help but worry a bit. I wish this vet hadn't told me anything other than an infection :frustrated:

How is Shadow doing now? That must have been so horrible for you :( :grouphug:

Thank you free! That does make me feel better. I asked the vet if the infection could be caused from the crystals/stones. She said it was a "minute" chance and was still pretty hung up on prostate cancer. I think she just rushed to give us info without knowing enough... at least that's what I'm hoping for :)
