Hello please be patient with me because i am new to this forum anyway i have a prescious beagle named Abby she was born in Dec. of 06 we got her in Jan of 07. Will in july of this year she was not acting right so took her to the Vet (we ) have been taking her to Vet since we got her for shots,checkups anyway we took her and she had a high fever and they pushed on her and she whined so they gave a shot to take fever down then some antibotics we brought her home she rested ate slept then around 11 that night was not acting good was stiff and kind of shakey so called vet went back fever was up again so they gave her a stronger shot and different antibotics she did good through the night and the next morning vet said call to tell him how she was doing I called and said better so went got the stronger antibotics and she got well except she was very very stiff of a morning intill she got up and moving so i took her back and they ran tests and could not find anything I had looked up arthritis in beagles she fit it to a T anyway i told vet this will she took a test for lyme diease nothing artritis nothing I said I really think this is what she has so we are giving her 1.5 mg of Metacam 15 in morning and 20 in the evening she is still kind of stiff but with weather permitting her and I walk but if no walk she lays around then gets up and is stiff I am just real confused on this also she doesnt seem to sleep very much is a very very loving beagle anybody ever experinced this? thanks

If your vet has been unable to diagnose her since July, I would strongly recommend you find another vet clinic for a second opinion. I hope you can find what's ailing her :fingerscr.

Thats what my Son says but I think it is arthritis from what i have read.

I'd listen to your son then :D. Self-diagnosing our pets can be pretty dangerous, abbyandmom. There are so many diseases that may cause inflammation/pain/stiffness of the joints. It really is best that Abby be diagnosed accurately in order to be treated.

Four years of age is pretty early to be showing such severe arthritis. It could be a symptom of a lot of different things. For instance, if you have ticks around, it could well be a tick-borne disease. TBD can be very difficult to detect, depending on the disease or even strain of the disease.

So I have to agree with LP--if your vet hasn't been able to pinpoint anything, a second opinion might be the order of the day!
