I recently read the following item in a Readers Digest magazine. Not sure of the accuracy, but really, if anybody is donating on-line to the SPCA they should know this.
Quote:
In 2006, the Montreal SPCA's board voted to transfer the domain name SPCA.com to a new entity, SPCA International (SPCAI), based in Washington, DC. At that same time, Pierre Barnotti, who was executive director of the Canadian SPCA, became president of the SPCAI, and two SPCA committee members became SPCAI officers. SPCAI racked up $3.3 million in donations in 2008, but less than $9,000 wen tto "direct animal care." And although the charity runs small-scale programs such as Operation Baghdad Pups - which helps U.S. soldiers adopt pets from Iraq and Afghanistan - it has no animal shelters.
The Canadian SPCA is suing SPCAI to get its domain name back. The case goes to trial in November. End Quote.
