Throwaway cat

This was meant to be about cats. The more I think it works for dogs as well.

I am not a throw away
to have for just one day
I have feelings, thoughts
And love my life
I want to learn to play

I am not a throw away
To take home one day
Then turn your back again
I need to know your love is real
No matter what I’ve done

I am not a throw away
To be tossed back when love
is gone …..

Pets are forever, so they say
I wouldn't know
I'm just a throw away
They brought me home
They treated me well
I thought I'd found
My life long dwell
Then the stories I heard
As they talked about
Putting me out
I knew my time of ease
Was about to end
But why, I ask
Why must I go
To be just a throw away cat
They kept me for
A week so sweet
And now I am
back on the street
I don't want to be a throw away cat
Please won't someone
Tell them that

I think it works for both as well :)
It's a very nice poem.

OMG 14+,that just opened the flood-gates:cry:it's soo true for so many poor little souls,as you certainly know...it's a cruel world for so many precious innocents,be it dogs or cats:(

That's why I stay away from those threads. :(

As usual, this touches our hearts. Throwaways....yes indeed so many are. I was at the shelter just last week to see a poor blind dog that shook uncontrollably in his cage. I really wonder HOW people can just discard their pets like this. I don't think I will ever understand this mentality. For all the animals I see at the shelters or pounds, their eyes speak volumes and my heart is very very heavy every time I leave. All we can do I guess is support our rescues and shelters as the human race has no compassion whatsoever except for the few in this world that respects lives in all forms.

Thank you for the poem as I hope that it touches everyone to be proactive in their community to stop the over population and perhaps continue to educate people one by one.
