Just wondering if anyone knows if melons are bad for dogs. I like feeding Sophie fresh fruit and veggies. My husband gave her melon (Honeydew) the other night and she loved it. I just wanted to know if this is okay to give her as a snack?
Thanks

Melon's, honeydew, etc, history can be traced to 3000 B.C. in Persia and 2000 B.C in Greece and Egypt. Melons are a good source of vitamins K, C, and (for orange-fleshed varieties) beta-carotene.
i'm pretty sure no doggie died from a juicy yummy slice of mellon lol
and for a snack.. yummy.. animals in the zoo get's fresh fruits for snacks!
and i'm sure little Sophie would give ya a Paw'z up for the snack lol...

oh what a nice doggy treat, cold melon on a hot day, mmmmm, yum, great treat for sophie, and she will be oh so happy with her mum and dad :D .

mango, paw paw, melons, grapes, pepinos, gooseberries, strawberries, passion fruit, broccoli, cauli, carrots, tomatos, capsicum,, most herbs, i have fed all these to my girl and many more, you name it my girl loves it. she is a right vege and fruit freak and loves our garden, where she can pick what she wants fresh and help herself, she is soo cute with the passionfruit, she peels it open and then licks out the innards, so cute and i reckon so smart, although she needs help with the gooseberries, but she lets me know when she needs help :D
i feed her most fruit/veg and always have, never had a problem. But i do not feed her any citrus or onions etc, not good for dogs. and it is nice at the beach to share a mango with her and then go for a swim and wash of the juice, oh so cute.
although one day i grew some prize winning capsicums, oh i was proud of them, during their time i had to move about 900km, to the other side of the state. well i manage to get all the capsicum plants to the new house without any loss or breakage, again i was so proud. well the capsicums were only there for a few hours, and what do you know, she ruddy well ate every single one of those capsicums within hours of our arrival. i was furious, the effort and worry of moving them, why didnt she eat them before we moved?

well lets say i have never ever bothered growing capsicum again, as well as parsley or strawberries (if they arent ripe she spits them on the ground) or tomatos etc, ye gad she is a pain in the gardeners butt. but it is her garden too so i cant blame her too much, she sees no reason why she cant have the lot   and she is too cute helping herself to bother .

forgot to mention, some ppl say seeded grapes are bad for dogs, in small amounts you should not have a problem, sml amt means 1 or 2 at a time. i feed literally bags of seedless to my girl and she has no probs ever but you never know, so only sml amts to be safe :D

Both of my dogs love fruits, melons, veggies........I heard grapes weren't good, so no more of those. They love watermelon I think the most. Neither likes pickles or onions but that is about it....LOL

Not quite related, but I buy sugarless popsicles and they are very exicted to share one of those on a hot day!

My Golden loves melon, watermelon is his fav and I was at the vet yesterday and asked about grapes.... red is fine aslong as you don't feed them alot at one time. My Vet said a few grapes here and there are ok and any fruit is great for dogs. Let your dog have melon it is good for them and they sure enjoy it on a hot summer day.
