squirrely adventure

Yesterday,while I was on my Pc in another room,I heard this racket in my den :confused:
I run in and find a squirrel attached to my floor to ceiling Yucca-tree and a hole in my patio-door screen :eek:
My three very BRAVE cats,looked like puffed up fur-balls,but did nothing,just had a dumb very confused look on their faces..
Anyway,I sort of panicked,worrying he would run into the rest of the house,with three cats after him,but I opened the patio-screen and with a giant leep he was back outside,phew!!
Well,I now once again have to replace the screen,but I have to find something a little more durable than the nylon mesh type!!
The squirrels original target,was a basket of peanuts keep just inside the door,I think I might change the location of the basket :D

You can buy a pet screen here at hardware stores. It is way stronger. The cats can't even claw through it.
I would die if a squirrel got in my house. I think they are cute but am scared of them. I'm a big baby :)

Thank's,I am going to look into that today...my cats are not a problem,they do not tear at the screen,just run into it ever now and then,when they see something munchie on the deck,like a bird :D
I have a sort of"pet-squirrel" FiFi,but she has never attempted to get in,I've been feeding her for 3 yrs,she knows her name and comes to me when I call,of course it helps I have peanuts in my hand...
Nothing to be afraid of.....but I do not touch her and they have FLEAS :eek:

OYE Anita LOL thats a huge screen to replace as well.

I had a squirrel try to get into the kitchen screen b4 because a jar of pb was open on the counter.

We replaced it with a metal based screen..no problem now :D

Funny Chico... was the squirrel bouncing around before he finally went out?
We had a squirrel running around my mom's house once.
Her house was being renovated at the time and they were working on the roof right above my room on the 3rd floor. For a week straight I'd hear a scratching noise in my ceiling... my mom thought I was crazy until one day there was a hole in my ceiling and a squirrel bouncing off the walls and running from 1st floor back to the 3rd and back down again. We were ALL screaming and opened the front door and he jumped (flew?) from the door all the way to the street under a car!
The squirrel must have gotten in there some how while the workers were doing the roof and was stuck. Poor guy... I guess when they want out (or in) bad enough they will.

No,he was not bouncing,he flew out the door :D
He was climbing the screen inside and when I came in,he jumped onto a really big Yucca I have,then out the door :D with 3 chicken cats watching :)

Oh,Oh CF don't get me started on my FiFi :D
It just kind of happened,she was never afraid of me and she's the prettiest of all the squirrels.
I swear she knocks on the door,to let me know she wants peanuts,or looks in the window.She'll run beside me like a puppy,she has a secret spot where I put her peanuts,so no other squirrel gets them :D
She's been my outdoor pet for 3 yrs and she's preggy at least twice a year,poor thing :(

That's really cute Chico. I once had a pet squirrel at my grandparents house. We would take peanuts outside and sit on the back patio. We had to sit so patiently and wait for them to come, I would get so impatient and tell my grandma that the squirrels hated me!! They FINALLY came over and would sit in our laps eating the peanuts!! I have photos somewhere, I will try and find them and scan them for you guys! I was so fun!

Brings back happy memories of my Pop. He used to put out english walnuts for this one big grey squirrel. Ever once in awhile, he'd put out a black walnut, just for the fun of watching it try to crack it open! I was always fond of feeding the chipmunks when camping. We'd put out the seeds from our melons and the corn cobs with bits of kernels still attached. Fun to watch them stuff their little cheeks.
