Both Macie and Ridge have spring birthdays.
No birthday would be complete without a card and a birthday kiss to start the day out right.
So right after breakfast on their respective birthdays, both Macie...
...and Ridge got some special mail...
...and that all-important kiss.

But the weather wouldn't cooperate long enough for individual parties.
(We've had over 13 inches [almost 35 cm] of rain since June 1.)
However, in mid-June we finally managed to squeeze in a cooler, pleasant day suitable for holding a joint Birthday Girl Party. :D
"Let's get this party going, shall we, Mom?"
Let the party begin!!!"
July 18th, 2010, 12:56 PM
Princess~Queen Cass displayed her usual prowess with the Kibble Kube...
...and was soon joined by the rest of the Pack wanting to share.
July 18th, 2010, 12:57 PM
There was Kong play...
July 18th, 2010, 12:59 PM
...which continued till everyone was left panting in the grass...
July 18th, 2010, 01:01 PM
...or cooling off in the shade.
July 18th, 2010, 01:04 PM
Sheriff Cole took time for a refreshing roll...
...before leading the Pack on an exciting snake hunt around the garden timbers.

Ever the good hostess, Ms Muddy Mossy Messy Macie spent a lot of time
mingling with guests in different yards, utilizing her favorite short-cuts to save time.

July 18th, 2010, 01:13 PM
And after a very long time of playing, everyone was finally all celebrated out and ready to go inside.
Everyone gave one last birthday wish to Lady (in Waiting) Ridge...
...and to Ms Muddy Mossy Messy Macie...
July 18th, 2010, 01:15 PM
...and then trekked back into the house for the traditional After-Party Nap.

Thanks, Rgeurts. :D
The in-laws always make sure each dog gets a card and a present for their birthday :cloud9: We get the best job, though--we supply the kissies!! :flirt:

How sweet! Sounds similar to my "in-laws." They became smitten with Connor very quickly and now he gets lots of Christmas presents and treats from his grandparents. Keely hasn't met them yet, but she's sure to like them after they slip her some bacon from the kitchen table. :frustrated::laughing:
Love love love all the pictures of your pack. They all have such personalities in your stories! You're wonderful at displaying exactly how special each one of them is :cloud9:
Happy (belated) birthday girls!
July 18th, 2010, 04:26 PM
Aw, thanks, Serena!
So the Pack and Connor (and soon Keely) have something in common--wonderful grandparents! :D There's nothing finer than dog-loving in-laws in my book!! :highfive:

I agree! On first meeting my SO's parents, I was so worried and nervous because he kept talking about how his Mom didn't really like pets. I had to bring Connor along for our weekend trip because we couldn't find a suitable sitter. Already nerve wrecked about them meeting me, it was even worse knowing they might not like my little one.
Turns out I had nothing to worry about! Five minutes after meeting us, SO's mother had left us alone and was kindly escorting Connor into the house to get some water. After that, she put aside meats and veggies for him at every meal. Hahah. Now he's getting Christmas presents and he even stayed with them for a few months when I was in Italy.
So funny how it works out!!

 Sounds like a keeper family, Serena!! :thumbs up
July 18th, 2010, 04:49 PM
love the short cuts!! :thumbs up:thumbs up
July 18th, 2010, 08:23 PM
She loves her short cuts, too! However, it makes it difficult to control her location. :frustrated: We had to weed-and-feed the bottom half of the big yard because the plantain was taking over, but first we had to make sure we could keep her out of the yard. Took us two weeks and 7 tent stakes tapped along the bottom of the fence to hold the wire in place before we finally thwarted her freedom of movement
She's nothing if not persistent, that one! :D

Awh, the important kiss--so precious and heartfelt. :cloud9:
July 18th, 2010, 10:00 PM
Sometimes they even kiss us back! :flirt:
July 19th, 2010, 12:37 AM

Thanks, TQ! I'll pass on the compliments to the Pack. :D
This time of year their coats are really fluffing out--and I do mean 'out'. I just vacuumed up about 5 cubic yards of hairballs. :frustrated: I always go through a lot of vacuum bags this time of year. :o
