Since I'm kinda sorta new here, I'd love to know about your role with cats, what you do, how you got involved and how you are so knowledgeable!

When you have a chance, maybe you could point me to a thread that explains all this.

Many thanks

Now that would be boring!! There are sooo many other people here who truly rescue and do very important things for pets. Like fostering, finding forever homes (something I am not that successful in doing), volunteering. All of that is very important. I am just a small speck of sand. :o

If everyone who rescues agrees to tell their stories about how they got started then I may share mine. :thumbs up

I used to foster dogs , now I'm about to foster cats.

I'd be interested in anyone's story who wants to share. As a one year first time cat owner, I'm in all of you all doing the wonderful things you do! :thumbs up

Well, I decided to do a blog. Figured it was a lot easier than posting it here. I warn you it is a long read. Could have been longer but I thought I would be nice. Hope it helps explain a little about who I am.

Thanks Frenchy. Tried not to make it too long or boring. Now I expect to see a few other stories here. I did my part. :p My blog is called - My story such as it is if you are having problems finding it. :thumbs up

Now I have to go rest my eyes for a few minutes. :D

well , for me , it's started about 5 years ago. By that time I already adopted 2 older Goldens. I wanted to have more (they're like potato chips , you always want more :)) but didn't think I could afford it so I started fostering ... hard ! I would get one foster after another , would take in calls from the french surrender owners , place these dogs as well. I was also taking all adoption requests for my fosters , and choose them myself. All of this kinda burned me out. So I went to help other rescues where I could only fosters , not take any calls , not make any decisions. Just foster. Of course , I had a few foster failures :p first one was my Sam , that nobody wanted because he was too fat , too old ...

I would sometimes have to take breaks from fostering when my own older dogs would get sick (many of them had cancer :( :rip: )

I'm also on many e-mail lists , where I try to help place other dogs , sometimes with other rescues , sometimes outside rescues. It just never ends. :(

and now with Churchill , who's not crazy about new dogs coming into "his" territory , I'm looking forward to foster cats

Mmm, now why couldn't I make my story that short and sweet?

I was sitting here going through websites again and adding some to my favourites when I just realized something. My favourites list has got to be one of the largest ones around!! I really need to go and thin it out! :o My daughter looked at it one day and laughed. She asked what I thought I was going to do with all the info. Write a book? Oh, to have the time.... :cloud9: But, when I need to find something I know where to look. :thumbs up:laughing::laughing:
