Has anyone ever heard of or used a product called "PlaqueOff animal"?
I just want to know if its safe for use on cats.
It says "Contains only specially selected seaweed: D1070. Free from artificial colors, preservatives, gluten and sugar. Rich in natural iodine."
I have read some good reviews on this and wanted to make sure it is safe before I give it to my furbabies.:cat:
Thank you for any input.

I personally wouldn't use the PlaqueOff for a cat. Excess iodine consumption may be a factor in the development of hyperthyroidism, and this product appears to be high in iodine. A better option, if you can find some, is Biotene Veterinary Maintenance Gel (http://www.calvetsupply.com/product/Biotene_Veterinary_Maintenance_Gel/Pet_Dental_and_Oral_Health).
Or raw chicken necks and gizzards!

We sell it where I work, but mainly for use in dogs. The amount you add to the food is quite miniscule. Many customers have had good luck with it. Since where I work moved to a bigger store, we sell many more dental products like chews, pastes and gels, but most are designed for use in dogs.
It's really up to you. I feel it's a good product, but I don't know of anyone who has used it in cats. If you aren't already, using a good quality food will keep their teeth and breath in better shape than any OTC product like that. My oldest cat is almost 4 and a half and has the sparkling teeth of a 6 month old kitten.

One of my cats is starting to develop some plaque at 6 yrs. of age. Has anyone tried "Nature's Dentist" (McIntosh ProLine Producs, Wheatley, ON) that is sprinkled on the food? A pet store suggested this.

Thank you for the replies. Two of my rescue cats had gingivitis as kittens.
I only feed them grain free wet food.
I also give them a C.E.T. chew each day. I was just hoping that the plaqueOff would be safe to use also.
I think I am afraid to try it.

It's not that plaqueoff isn't safe, I just honestly don't know of anyone using it for cats. Cats are sort of second class compared to dogs anymore.. they don;t even make half the amount of cool/useful stuff they make for dogs. It's ridiculous.
Um, well just try going to your local pet store.. even a chain one like Petsmart. Check out what they have for cats. I mean, you could even give Feline Greenies a try? Not that I personally think Greenies do a darn thing, but the ingredients aren't half bad and that's really the only thing I can think of specifically for cats.
